St. Patrick’s Day brought plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, as the cast of “Guys Reading Poems” gathered to draw attention to the film, recruit new backers and celebrate those of you who’ve already backed the project. Here’s a recap for those of our backers not able to make it out to Los Angeles for the event at ‘The Addiction Bistro,’ an incredibly yummy restaurant whose sausages, pastas, green s’mores and friendly service made the evening a culinary, as well as crowdfunding, success.
“Guys Reading Poems” star Alexander Dreymon (“American Horror Story”) was on hand to mix and mingle with the crowd as well as speak about the importance of independent cinema.
Comedian Natasha Pearl Hansen reminded the ladies in the audience that it’s important for women to support men pursuing a noble cause.
Poetry began to meet cinema when film actor Justin Schwan met poet Steven Reigns, whose work was interpreted in “Guys Reading Poems” under the direction of Hunter Lee Hughes.
Rex Lee (“Entourage”) even stopped by to give some of our cast a little encouragement.
Actors Vincent Montuel and Alexander Dreymon found our success finding new backers a pretty good reason to smile.
Our wonderful photographer Michael J. Douglass told our cast guys to “look serious” so we obliged…maybe a little TOO much.
And finally, our last “guy” Jason Fracaro, also one of our producers, made it to the event after a long day of responsibilities, just in time to pose with costume designer Shpetim Zero and fellow actor Jerod Meagher.
A huge thank you to ALL the new backers who made our event so successful, whether you attended in person or from a distance. Our new backers are:
Remember, if you enjoy these photos please click the “Like” heart at the top of this update. That’s one of the best ways to expose other Kickstarter users to our project. In fact, you can go back and “like” ANY of the updates you’ve enjoyed so far.
Also…let’s get to 200 backers by the end of the week. How can we do that? Simple. Each of you reaches out to one person – just one person – and encourages them to back the project at any level. At this point, you’re an army – 122 strong. All it takes is one email, one phone call, maybe even just one text message from each of you to double our ranks. Let’s do it!
